Mijn hond kan vliegen!
After the UK with its six active K9 Frisbee League Clubs, The Netherlands has been the most active European country in the Worldwide League – six different Dutch Clubs have participated over the last 7 years.
As a salute to all House of Orange Disc Doggers, the Spring 2023 Commemorative Patch pays tribute to Brave, Captain Hans de Rooij’s 4-year-old Australian Shepherd who flies for the Eindhoven Club.
An ambassador for our sport, Hans’ passion for disc dogging began in 2008 with Spike, an Australian Shepperd and spaniel mix who’s now 15 years and still loves chasing discs even though he’s now partially blind.
The Eindohoven League Club’s freshman season was Summer Down Under 2020. Hans took over as Captain a year ago in the 90:/5 March 2022 Season. “I wanted to keep our Club going because the Worldwide League is for us a very nice league to play, to have a friendly competition with other people around the world, and you can play it in your time. It’s No stress and a lot of fun with frisbee friends.”
Today, Brave is Hans’ top Frisbee dog for both Toss & Fetch and Freestyle when he competes in USDDN and UFO events across Europe. “She is really fast, and a jumper for every disc. She learns very fast especially loves freestyle. She’s my little girl and really want to work for me, and we both love the game and the way we work together on the field.”
