WINTER 2022 SEASON PATCH PAYS TRIBUTE TO A LUCKY DOG: Nano

Rescued from the Indianapolis Animal Care and Control in 2012 by Lucky Dog Rescue owned by Robin Herman , the founder of the Indianapolis Toss & Fetch Club, the pound said to her “you don’t really want this dog”. He was a “double parole” – the pound thought he was a 2-year-old, the vet pegged him at 7.

“I pulled him for our rescue, but after watching him catch some discs, I thought maybe we could squeeze in another dog – after all, at 15 pounds, how much trouble could he be?,” remembered Robin.

“Nano took me to a lot of new places. He podiumed twice at Skyhoundz Worlds in Extreme Distance with 45-yard catches. Once on the podium at UpDog International Finals with a third place in little dog freestyle.

“But the most awesome of all was performing twice at the Indianapolis Colts half time show. They had to put him on the jumbo-tron so people could see him. 57,000 people watching him catch discs didn’t bother him at all.”

“Nano’s been all over the country – Florida, Georgia, Kanas City, Purina Farms and Disney World.

“There is a great big dog tucked inside that little body. We’ve never known how old he is – but he was old enough to be done with his time here. An enlarged heart and a collapsed trachea finally did him in in 2020. “

“My heart is broken for my little shadow, my little lap dog – and the dog that never took no for an answer. Go find our tribe Nano – ask for Abbey, she’ll be the leader of the group. I’ll see you again.

Love you little buddy, thanks for everything.

Mom — with Lisa Hall.”
