Discover the K9 Frisbee Worldwide League: The Fun, Accessible Dog Sport for Everyone!
Join a Local Club or Start a K9 Frisbee Club in Your Home Town
Since its founding in the Fall of 2015, the K9 Frisbee Worldwide League has rapidly grown into one of the most popular global dog sports, with more than 11,000 people from 365 local K9 Frisbee Clubs around the world having played in at least one League season. The League’s unique, inclusive structure means anyone can participate, regardless of experience. Whether you’re a seasoned handler or completely new to dog sports, the K9 Frisbee Worldwide League is built to be fun for everyone!
Now, in its 54th season, the League runs seven 5-week-long seasons every year, with clubs from across the globe competing against one another. Here’s everything you need to know about the League and how you can get involved:
How the K9 Frisbee Worldwide League Works
Simply, a group of at least 8 people form a "K9 Frisbee League Club" and gather on a field in their local community to play two rounds of K9 Frisbee Toss & Fetch a week over five weeks. Human/Dog Teams try and make as many catches as possible in the allotted time with longer catches scoring more points. Any dog, any breed can play and we even have a category for Tiny Dogs. It's easy and fun to play -- no experience is necessary to get started.
Anyone, anywhere in the world can form a local Club and participate in the League. Contact us and we'll help get you started.
7 Seasons Every Year
The League runs seven 5-week long seasons throughout the year. Local K9 Frisbee Clubs can participate in as many or few seasons that fits their schedule or weather. Canadian Clubs often drop out of the Winter seasons while southern Clubs don't play in the summer when it's too hot. Many, however play all year in all types of weather because the dogs always need to run.
Check our annual Season Schedule for specific starting dates for the following 7 seasons of play:
- Summer Down Under Season
- 90:/5 March Season
- Spring Season
- 90:/5 June Season
- Summer Season
- 90:/5 Fall Season
- Winter Season
K9 Frisbee League seasons alternates between two formats, both of which are designed to challenge teams while keeping the competition exciting and fair for all participants:
# 60:/All Format Seasons
In a 60:/All format season, teams play two 60-second rounds of K9 Frisbee Toss and Fetch each week. All scored catches count towards their cumulative season total, and the team with the highest cumulative score wins.
# 90:/5 Format Seasons
In a 90:/5 format season, teams play two 90-second rounds each week, but only their five best-scored catches per round are counted towards their weekly score. This format allows teams to focus on their highest-performing throws while adding an extra layer of strategy.
Mulligan Week: Your Safety Net
In both formats, seasons last for five weeks, but here’s the best part—only your best 4 weekly scores are counted towards your final season total. This means you get one “Mulligan Week,” where your lowest score (or a week you missed) is dropped from the cumulative score. Even if you can’t make every week, you still have a great chance to rank highly!
Divisions: Competitive, Yet Fair and Fun for All
The League’s division system ensures that everyone can compete on a level playing field, whether you’re new to the game or a seasoned pro. Here are the divisions:
- EXPERT: For handlers with competitive experience.
- MASTER: Experienced players with a history of strong performances.
- HANDLER: A division for intermediate, recreational, and players new to the League.
- JUNIOR: For kids 13 years old or younger at the start of the season.
This structure, along with the League’s handicap system, guarantees that teams of all skill levels can compete fairly and have fun. Whether you’re just learning to throw or have been competing for years, there’s a place for you in the K9 Frisbee League.
Community and Camaraderie: Why the League is Special
Unlike other dog sports where individual teams compete against each other, K9 Frisbee League competition is Club-based. This means that local clubs aren’t just ranking their individual teams—they’re building a community and competing together to rank their local Frisbee dog community against other clubs worldwide.
Playing Frisbee with your dog isn’t just about the throws and catches—it’s about bonding with your dog and building friendships with other handlers. The atmosphere at every K9 Frisbee League Club is supportive, fun, and family-friendly. This camaraderie is one of the reasons so many people keep coming back season after season.
Everyone Earns Patches and Titles!
One of the most exciting parts of playing in the League is that everyone who participates in a season earns a custom-embroidered patch to commemorate the experience! Plus, if you finish in the top 40% of all teams worldwide, you’ll earn a special Canis Magnus (TOP DOG) version of the patch.
Frisbee Dog & Roller Dog Titles
Every team (handler and dog) on a League Club with 8 or more players can also work towards earning Frisbee Dog or Roller Dog titles. To qualify for a title, teams must:
- Play at least 3 of the 5 weeks in a season.
- Achieve a specific weekly raw point threshold (without handicap) at least 3 times during the season.
- Have at least 4 other active Club members present and playing for the score to count.
Titles are awarded at the end of each season and are announced on the League’s official @K9 Frisbee Worldwide League Facebook page.
Squads, however, are not eligible to earn titles. So, if you want to work towards a title, make sure your Club has 8 or more people by Week 3 of the season!

Starting Your Own K9 Frisbee League Club is Easy!
Getting a K9 Frisbee Club started in your community is as simple as finding a field and recruiting some friends! Anyone, anywhere in the world can start a Club and become a Club Captain and the League will help you in every step.
1. Find a Field: You’ll need a flat, open space large enough for a 20 x 50 yard playing field. Parks, school grounds, or even a large backyard can often work great for weekly play.
- EVERYONE IN THE USA IS INSURED: Everyone in the USA who plays in the League is covered under an umbrella policy.
- CERTIFICATES AVAILABLE WHEN REQUIRED: If a municipality or private property owner requires a Certificate of Insurance naming them as and additional insured, the League can provide one free of charge.
2. Recruit Players: To gain full Club status, you’ll need at least 8 players who can commit to playing two rounds of Toss and Fetch once a week for 5 weeks. If you have fewer than 8 people but at least 4, you can still form a Squad, which allows you to play and rank globally, though Squads are not eligible for titles or Canis Magnus points.
3. Honor System and Peer Oversight: The K9 Frisbee League runs on the honor system, with local Clubs judging themselves under League rules. When your Club plays, you’ll submit your scores to League headquarters, and with at least 8 people playing, there’s a natural level of peer oversight to ensure fairness.
4. Register Your Club: Once you're ready to get your local Club in the game, register it with the League by contacting Mark Vitullo.
5. No Upfront Costs, Lowest Fees of Any Dog Sport: Club Captains collect League Fees of just $10 or $15 from their members and submit them after the 3rd Week of each season based on your Club's roster. If you incur out-of-pocket expenses, you decide if you need to increase your Club member's contributions
