What is the K9 Frisbee Worldwide League?

The K9 Frisbee Worldwide League is an organized league where teams of handlers and their dogs compete in a fun and straightforward game of toss and fetch. The League is designed to be accessible to players of all skill levels, making it an excellent way for newcomers to get involved in the sport of K9 Frisbee.

How It's Played:

- Field Setup: The game is played on a 50-yard-long field.

- Teams: Each team consists of one handler and one dog.

- Gameplay: Teams have one minute (or 90-seconds) to complete as many throws and catches as possible. Points are awarded based on the distance of the throws and successful catches:

  - 0-10 yards: 0 points

  - 10-20 yards: 1 point

  - 20-30 yards: 2 points

  - 30-40 yards: 3 points

  - 40-50 yards: 5 points

- Scoring: Longer throws and catches earn higher points, encouraging both accuracy and distance.

Benefits to Dogs:

- Physical Exercise: Playing K9 Frisbee provides excellent physical exercise for dogs, helping them stay fit and healthy.

- Mental Stimulation: The game engages dogs' minds, as they focus on catching the Frisbee and following their handler's cues.

- Bonding: The sport strengthens the bond between dogs and their handlers through teamwork and shared activity.

- Socialization: Dogs have the opportunity to interact with other dogs and people, enhancing their social skills.

Benefits to People:

- Fitness: Handlers get a good workout through running, throwing, and playing with their dogs.

- Community: The League fosters a sense of community, bringing together dog lovers who share a common interest.

- Relaxation: The friendly and supportive atmosphere of the League provides a relaxing and enjoyable pastime.

- Skill Development: Handlers can improve their Frisbee throwing skills and learn new ways to engage with their dogs.

  • All League Participants receive an embroidered patch commemorating the season, and the top 40% of teams earn a "Canis Magnus" or "Top Dog" patch.
  • Frisbee Dog & Roller Dog Titles: Playing in a League Season or the Worldwide Championship provides opportunities to earn K9 Frisbee Titles for your dog.
